Hi, I'm Buffon. It's not the name on my ID but a nickname from childhood, and I keep it here so I can write freely.
I'm an ordinary person: a family man with a home, kids and a lot of work. I work in international trade and I won't say more than that. Nothing from my personal life appears here.
I've been betting since I was 18. I started with live volleyball, where I could quickly see when a match might turn around, and the odds were big. There were runs when 100 RON grew into 10,000 RON. I played poker for years. Today I no longer play online, and offline I play cash games in the cities I visit with my family.
How I bet
These days I bet on Betfair Exchange, on live tennis. It suits me because it's a big platform, licensed in Romania, with low commissions and good conditions for large stakes. I watch the first few games, the stats and what's happening on court, and I look for gaps between what I see and what the odds say. Maybe 20% is analysis and 80% is gut feeling, which is really still analysis, it just comes from experience.
My style is high risk, high reward, and it isn't for everyone. I'm not after a 5% edge over the long run. I do this because I'm passionate about it, but it takes an enormous amount of energy and concentration.
My rules
I only lose what I can afford to lose, and I never put my family, my home or my savings at risk. I don't bet borrowed money. The fixed amount I set aside to lose is my only stop-loss. If I lose it all, I self-exclude for 3–6 months and come back better.
Why this blog
First of all, for myself: to see that there is real work behind what I do, work that others can see too. Maybe it will help someone, as a lesson in discipline, risk and how to get back up after a loss.
I publish absolutely every bet, winning or losing, and every article has the screenshot from my Betfair account. This blog will probably end, like almost any story of this kind, with lost money. Maybe a break and a comeback will follow. The last post will be about failure; I'm saying that right now.
I don't sell tips and I never will. Anyone who truly wins doesn't need 10 dollars a month from someone else. I earn nothing from the blog; I only lose time and pay for hosting. Whether you believe me is your call. I'm not asking you to.
